Meet the Teacher

WELCOME TO FIRST GRADE!
I am very excited about sharing this year with your child!  Here’s a little about myself…

I grew up in Austin and went through the Round Rock Independent School District for grades K-12.  I went to Westwood High School and enjoyed being a part of the Sundancer organization.   I attended Texas A&M (Class of '93) and was one of the first members of the Texas Aggie Dance Team.  During my college years, I had the privilege of representing my hometown as Miss Round Rock USA and went on to compete for the Miss Texas USA pageant title, which was really a neat experience.  Although I didn’t win, I learned so much about myself and things that will last a lifetime.  I received my degree in Elementary Education and have been teaching for 24 years, all of which have been in First Grade.  I’ve taught in College Station, at Laurel Mountain Elementary and helped to open Canyon Creek so many years ago.  I really enjoy teaching and seeing the social, emotional, and academic learning that takes place in a year’s time.

My husband’s name is Don and we have two daughters, Courtney (19) who attends Blinn College on a full softball scholarship, and Lauren (15) who is a sophomore at Westwood High School.  Courtney is a dedicated softball player who wants to become a pediatric nurse.  She is good at juggling practice, friends and most importantly, homework.  Lauren is a varisty cheerleader and a competitive gymnast who has a knack for remembering people, their names and things about them. In my spare time (ha ha) I enjoy working on my scrapbooks and spending time with my family and friends!
